and this is how it happened.....

Thursday, July 21st I woke up feeling intense pressure in my pelvic region.  I knew I still had until Monday before my scheduled c-section and the kids were rambunctious so I calle dmy mom with an idea.  My mom and I took the kiddos downtown to the Center for Puppetry Arts to see Martha Speaks.  Since I could not sit comfortably or walk well, my mom encouraged me to call the doctor, just to be sure.  I did and they wanted me to come in at 3:00 to be seen.

At 3:00 I was seen by Dr. Ech who said monitored me and said my contractions were 10 minutes apart but I was not dilated/etc.  So he said to go home and call in the morning if nothing changed.  He said if I were to go to the hopsital they would not send me home since I was 38 weeks along.  BUt being a rule follower, I was not confortable with that.

The next morning I called and he said to come to Northside at 12 pm.  My mom got the kids and Phil and I took Biscuit to the Pet Hotel.  We then went to the nail salon so I could get a broken nail fixed and continued on to the mall so Phil could eat lunch and I could power walk.  I did NOT think I was in labor, just in PAIN, so I wanted to walk and walk and walk so they would be less likely to send me home.  I was sure in my head I was going to wait until Monday to have a baby.

We checked into Northside and admissions said "Are you in labor?".  I said "well, not really....my dr. just said to come down to be seen."  They sent us to an urgent care room after that since I was "not in labor".  The nurse comes in, "Are you in labor?".  "I replied "well no but Dr. Ech said to come in to be seen."  She responded with, "well we are NOT prepping you for surgery then if you are not in labor, let's just monitor you and see."  Next thing we know she is running in the room to give me a shot and take my blood.  Aparenly I WAS in labor, so much so that they had to give me a shot to slow contractions down.  They were intense and 3-4 minutes apart.  This was 1:00 and at 3:00 I was in the operating room.

Sweet little Emmeline Dean was born at 3:47 pm on July 22nd.  She weighed 7lbs 2 oz and was 18.5 inches long with a head of dark hair.  Just precious.

The next day Cooper and Sammy came to Northside to meet their sister.  They were all smiles and LOVED adding a third kiddo to our family.

And so we started our adventure as a family of 5!

Emme came home on Monday to a decorated house and a welcome home party hosted by Aunt Sarah!!!!!  It has been nonstop and LOTS of fun ever since.
